CHIEFS AGREE TO TERMS WITH SIXTH-ROUND PICK T WILL SVITEK Jul 27, 2005, 5:09:42 PM
Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Wednesday that the club has agreed to terms of a three-year contract with T Will Svitek, the first of its two sixth-round selections (187th overall) in the 2005 draft. He is the sixth 2005 Chiefs draft choice to reach a contract agreement with the club. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreement were made available.
Svitek (6-6, 300) played in 38 games (18 starts) as a defensive end at Stanford, but is working as an offensive tackle for the Chiefs. He registered 60 tackles (35 solo), 2.0 sacks (-13.0 yards), a forced fumble and an INT. He saw duty in nine games (four starts) as a senior, producing a career-high 30 tackles (21 solo), a half of a sack (-4.0 yards) and a forced fumble.
The Prague, Czech Republic native was a three-sport athlete at Newbury Park High School in Newbury Park, California. Svitek was named the ‘99-00 Ventura County High School Athlete of the Year. He registered 87 tackles, 9.0 sacks and five forced fumbles as a senior to earn honorable mention All-America honors from USA Today.
