Q&A WITH COACH VERMEIL Oct 28, 2005, 1:19:59 PM
Come see Marty Schottenheimer and the Chargers December 24th at Arrowehad!
Q: Trent Green wasn’t at practice today.
D. VERMEIL: “Had a family situation. He was excused.”
Q: Is he going to be playing on Sunday in San Diego?
VERMEIL: “Oh yeah.”
Q: He’ll fly out there with you guys? Did he have to go back to St. Louis?
VERMEIL: “He had a family situation.”
Q: John Browning participated in the walk-through today…
VERMEIL: “We anticipate him being able to play, but we’re not going to test him physically until Sunday pre-game early. But he feels good right now.”
Q: McCleon?
VERMEIL: “No, I think he’s out.”
Q: Overall, how do you think the week went with more time to prepare than normal?
VERMEIL: “I liked it. Whenever you do things different in this business if you play well then you feel that your preparation and your scheme routine change was good. If you don’t play well, then you can say the scheme screwed them up. For me, I’ve gotten passed that stage. Really. If we don’t play well we don’t play well because we’re not good enough to win.
“I think this routine was a plus. You’re going to have more time off your feet to play the game on Sunday than you’ve had at any time this year. They had a good hard work week. I didn’t want to over-work them.
“Our padded practice was an excellent practice. Yesterday’s practice was a good practice and I have not had one coach b- - - - to me about ‘you’ve got to talk to this guy or that guy who didn’t practice well.’ Those are all good vibes.”
