John Clayton, I just heard said that Ty Law was still in the top 4 Cornerbacks in the League. (Clayton is a moron anyway.) but I was wondering the boards impression of him? Rodney Harrison has really come on since his move to the Patriots from San Diego. (Rodney Harrison was born on December 15, 1972 in Markham) about the same age.
Law, 31, was drafted by the Patriots with the 23rd overall pick in the first round of the 1995 NFL Draft and spent 10 seasons with New England from 1995-2004. Over that span, the Aliquippa, Pa. native tied the Patriots franchise record with 36 career interceptions and was voted to four Pro Bowls, first in 1998 and then for three consecutive years beginning in 2001.
The 5-foot-11-inch, 200-pound cornerback played in 141 games with 133 starts for New England and recorded 648 career tackles, including four sacks, 36 interceptions for 582 yards and 142 passes defensed. Law set a franchise record with six career interception returns for touchdowns in the regular season. He also returned a pick for a score in the first half of Super Bowl XXXVI. In his 10 seasons in New England, Law tied for the team lead in interceptions three times (2000, 2002, 2003) and led the team in that category in 1998, when he led the NFL with a career-high nine interceptions. The University of Michigan product also set a career high with 37 passes defensed that season. In 2003, Law led the NFL with 23 passes defensed and tied for the team lead with six interceptions, earning him his third consecutive Pro Bowl nod.

IF he's healthy i agree with clayton but i think he's had a semi major injury each of the last 3 years his age and health are concerns

I like Law, I know he has the usual gripes that most of the other high priced corners have. Still he is injury prone and I would rather see us go after a baxter or lucas.

While Law,Baxter,Rolle would be great moves by the Chiefs why aint any one saying in thing about Fred Smoot of the Skins i know the team did not do that good but if u watch any of there games he is a great yound Corner only 26 and would cost less than Rolle or Law!

The hype being created by the agents is driving the market, and Smoot is over rated IMO, I remember him coming out of college being fairly good, but the NFL is a different story. That being said, if he would come at a bargain sign him. (I guess I'm like a politician, I wouldn't care either way.) How do you answer that question without answering it?

I think we are one linebacker and one corner away. With Maz and Woods coming back... hoping they will be back in form.
Warfield is a good enough on the other side. Along with Rolle or Smoot ect. we would be in a much better at that position.
Barber at one outside linebacker is a worthy start along with a nice free agent. Maz in the middle. Hartwell would be fantastic in red.
What we have up front is serviceable.
Focus: First the defense was horrible as we all know, but to turn a defense around all it takes is penalty here a few yards here. ect. Gunther is solid, and he will get it worked out. The draft is big. I think that Rogers the kid from Auburn is the guy. We can start Warfield and the "free agent" and have him as our nickle guy, and can work him in. He is what they call "football player" and should be around for the taking. An Ed Reed, Leroy Butler type. A perfect fit in a CG defense. We also need help at wide reciever. The O is getting old, and we need to be looking toward the future, that is the first place to start. That is what the draft is for. Free agency is nice, but these guys get let go for a reason. Say what you would like about old CP he makes it so we are at least competiive each year, that is better then good one year and bad the next four. I hope he does not over indulge to make a winner next year without thinking toward the future.
1969 will come sometime once more.

For all you fellow Chiefs fans I want it to be known that Jerome Woods is CRAP. He's too slow, he can't cover, and he is highly overrated. Smoot I think is also Overrated. Unless we emerge this offseason with Surtain, Law, or Rolle I won't feel any better about our CB situation than I did last year. Carl may have to give up that #2 pick to get Surtain if this deal with Rolle continues to snag. As far as linebackers go all of our linebackers are trash IMO. This is the day of speed at LB and we don't have it. We have big slow LB's which would be ok if they could shed blocks and make plays but they are big, slow, and weak which means they are no good.
