Patriots sign ex-Chiefs back Cloud
The Capital-Journal
Free agent running back Mike Cloud, a former second-round draft pick of the Kansas City Chiefs, will return to the scene of his greatest glory after signing with the New England Patriots on Monday. Cloud is the career rushing leader at Boston College. But in four seasons with the Chiefs he seldom became more than a backup, starting only six games in the 56 he played. He became an unrestricted free agent this year, and the Chiefs did not try to sign him even though their top running back, Priest Holmes, is recovering from a hip injury.
If he makes the New England roster, Cloud would have to sit out the first four games of the regular season for violating the NFL's steroid policy.
Cloud's agent, Jonathan Feinsod, has said a protein supplement caused his client to test positive for the banned steroid nandrolone late last season.
