CHIEFS AGREE TO TERMS WITH BLACK, SAPP, TYNES AND WILKERSON

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Friday that the club has agreed to terms of one-year restricted free agent tenders with T Jordan Black and DE Jimmy Wilkerson. The club also agreed to one-year exclusive rights tenders with CB Benny Sapp and K Lawrence Tynes. As per Chiefs policy, no other terms of the agreements were made available.
Wilkerson (6-2, 280) has appeared in 43 games (two starts) during his first three seasons with Chiefs. The Omaha, Texas native has recorded 69 tackles (38 solo), half of a sack (-4.5 yards), 32 QB pressures, four passes defensed and a fumble recovery. Wilkerson played in all 16 games (two starts) in 2005, producing a career-high 35 tackles (23 solo), 25 QB pressures, three passes defensed and a fumble recovery. The University of Oklahoma product entered the NFL as a sixth-round pick (189th overall) of the Chiefs in 2003. Wilkerson amassed 130 tackles (66 solo), 35.0 stops for loss and 12.0 sacks for the Sooners.
Black (6-5, 304) has played in 32 games (14 starts) in three seasons with the Chiefs. He saw duty in 16 games a year ago, starting 10 contests (six at left tackle and four at right tackle). Black originally entered the NFL as a fifth-round draft choice (153rd overall) of Kansas City in 2003. He played in 43 games (42 starts) as a four-year starter at Notre Dame. He opened 38 contests at left tackle and four games at right guard during his collegiate career. The Garland, Texas native earned USA Today honorable mention All-America honors as a senior at Dallas Christian High School in Mesquite, Texas.
Tynes (6-1, 202) has played in 32 games with the Chiefs since rejoining the club as a free agent in 2004. He has converted 44 of 56 field goals and 102 of 105 PATs for 234 points during his first two NFL seasons. Tynes connected on 27 of 33 field goals and 44 of 45 PATs for 125 points in 2005. He earned AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors at Miami (10/2/05) when he converted all three of his FGs, including two from 50+ yards. He became the second player in Chiefs history to produce two FGs of 50+ yards in a game. Prior to joining the Chiefs, Tynes spent two seasons (2003-04) with Ottawa of the Canadian Football League. He originally entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with Kansas City in 2001. Tynes connected on 45 of 62 field goals and 127 of 131 PATs for 262 points during his four-year collegiate career at Troy State.
Sapp (5-9, 190) has played in 31 games (four starts) during his two-year NFL career, recording 60 tackles (39 solo), an interception, two forced fumbles, nine passes defensed and 19 special teams stops. He saw duty in all 16 games (three starts) in 2005, producing 45 tackles (30 solo), a forced fumble, six passes defensed and six special teams stops. Sapp entered the NFL as a rookie free agent with the Chiefs in 2004. He appeared in 24 games (15 starts) during his final two collegiate seasons at Northern Iowa. The Ft. Lauderdale, Florida native began his college career at Iowa after earning all-state honorable mention honors at Boyd Anderson High School.
